The weather was quite cold this morning! However, it was fresh and crispy, and jogging through the woods in my area reminded me why I fell in love with the area in the first place; the greens, the hills and the tranquillity.
One of my ‘new year resolutions’ was to pay more attention to my fitness and hopefully develop enough mental strength, to pray to Hercules to carve a six-pack out of my round belly and gift me with a Pectoralis Major to show off to my fans. However, this is February with a speed that beckons for a speed ticket, and I am still quite sluggish getting off the starting block.
But that changed this beautiful morning! I woke up about 6.15am and after few minutes of pep talk, I managed to drag myself out of the warmth and comfort of my bed, put on my jogging clothes, my running shoes and I finally hit the road!
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t welcoming, but I was very excited to have won the battle today and to have finally started on the road to fitness and well being. And while jogging, I had the pleasure of clearing my head, my thoughts and my lungs, while the scenery was very therapeutic.
I am aware I’m not going to turn into Usain Bolt or become Mr Olympian (……and I don’t intend to be), my goal is to do the best I can to be physically and mentally fit, and hopefully in the process get rid of the beer belly, and to be able to run around on a five-a-side football pitch chasing the inflated rubber for 5 minutes without having to call the ambulance. Am I asking for too much?
This is just the beginning, but I have learnt that “One million miles starts with a Step or Two”. Every day comes with its own challenges but each baby step we take, gets us closer to our goals, and my intention is to keep at it and not to give up.
I did well today, but tomorrow is another day!

Nice one…. Keep in shape!
